In The Ear (ITE) Styles

ITE aids are custom-made aids for the ears, and are designed to fit comfortably for each ear.

Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC)

This style is one of the smallest styles of aids, and fit deeply within the ear canal. This style was very popular before the introduction of RITE/RIC aids due to the cosmetic appeal.

In-The-Canal (ITC)

This aid is slightly larger than the CIC, and usually allows for a bigger battery size, allowing for longer battery life.

Half-Shell In-The-Ear (HS ITE)

This style is slightly larger than the ITC and will allow for a second microphone that will better help with difficult listening situations.

Full-Shell In-The-Ear (ITE)

This is the largest custom option, and allows the patient to have more power, should it be necessary. Because of the larger size, this style also allows for more controls, such as a volume control or a program change button. This is the easiest style for patient’s to handle, especially if there is any concern with dexterity.
