Benefits of Hearing Aids

Many people suffering from hearing loss will try to put off hearing aids because they feel like they will be a burden. This could not be further from the truth. These technological marvels can have a huge positive impact on the life of anyone who is suffering from even a small level of hearing loss. You should never let deficiencies in your hearing stand in the way of your relationships at work or when you are out with friends and family. The right hearing aid will fit seamlessly with both your lifestyle and your body allowing you to drastically improve your listening ability.

Adjusting to Hearing Aids

While Memorial Hearing will always strive to provide you with hearing aids that are easy to use, there will be an acclimation period if you are using them for the first time. New users of hearing aids will often be surprised by the different sounds which they have not heard in so long! Usually, this is a welcome experience but new patients may also be startled by less desirable sounds such as the honking of car horns or the hum of electrical equipment. However, after a short period of time to get adjusted (usually one to four weeks), these sounds should no longer be a surprise as the body learns to recognize a heightened sense of hearing.

Hearing Aids Available at Our Houston Office

At Memorial Hearing, we design our products to suit the hearing needs of our patients. Towards this end, we have 2 main types of hearing aids available:

Behind the Ear Hearing Aids

Behind The Ear (BTE) hearing aids are designed with comfort in mind. They clog the ear much less and allow for a more natural hearing experience. At Memorial Hearing, we offer the following BTE products:

  • Receiver in The Ear (RITE) / Receiver in the Canal (RIC)
  • Mini BTE with Slim Tube
  • BTE with Earmold

In the Ear Hearing Aids

For Houston patients who need hearing aids that are wholly placed-inside the ear, Memorial Hearing offers 4 different In The Ear (ITE) hearing aid products:

  • Completely-in-the-Canal (CIC)
  • In-the-Canal (ITC)
  • Half-Shell In-The-Ear
  • Full Shell In-The-Ear

Some people prefer in-ear hearing aids because they are a bit more discreet versus the more conventional behind-the-ear hearing aids. Your audiologist will ensure that your hearing aids are custom-made to exactly match the contours of your ears so that your hearing aids never bring more inconveniences to your life.

Adding a Touch of Technology: Digital Hearing Aids

Hearing aids now incorporate technology in the form of smartphone integration. You can now connect your digital hearing aids to mobile applications that allow you to stream phone calls, listen to music, and enjoy conversations with more clarity, even in noisy areas. At Memorial Hearing in Houston, TX, this advanced integration is available for both ITE and BTE hearing aids.
